Place a maximum bid on an auction right away
Simply select the maximum amount you’re willing to bid and click "Place max bid."
With a maximum bid, ShareWine takes care of the bidding process for you automatically.
By placing an automatic maximum bid, you can save time by avoiding the need to monitor the auction and place new bids manually. This is particularly valuable if you cannot follow the final phase of an auction or bidding on several listings at the same time.
When you place a maximum bid, ShareWine’s auction system will bid on your behalf whenever counter bids are made. Your bid will be increased by the smallest possible increment. This ensures you remain the highest bidder. The system will continue to outbid other bidders up to the maximum amount you’ve specified.
EXAMPLE
Below is an example of a maximum bid: The current price is EUR 100, and a max bid of EUR 150 is placed. If your maximum bid is not exceeded, you will win the auction.
In line with standard auction practices, your max bid will always place the next possible highest bid. For example, if another user bids EUR 110, your max bid will automatically increase to EUR 120. If the other user bids again (in this case EUR 130), your max bid will increase to EUR 140, and so on.
Why did my bid go directly to the maximum amount?
Your bid may reach its maximum immediately if:
-
Another bidder has placed an automatic bid with a limit just below your max bid.
ShareWine will immediately place your max bid if it is the next minimum bid above the other bidder's limit. -
Another bidder has set an automatic bid with the same maximum as yours.
In this case, both of you will go directly to your maximum bid limits. The bidder who placed their max bid first will become the highest bidder and lead the auction. -
Another bidder has placed an automatic bid with a maximum higher than yours.
Although you will be the highest bidder initially, the system will take you directly to your maximum bid to bring you as close as possible to their bid.
